In the little about me on the left hand side of the page, I mention that my daughter is on the brink of becoming a teenager. Well, that fateful day arrives tomorrow!!
I'm bracing myself for the stroke of midnight, will my pleasant little girl, suddenly turn into a slobbing, grunting adolescent with the inability to stand up straight or talk to anyone below the age of 15?
Is it really thirteen years ago that she came into the world?
Do you know, I still refer to her as my little girl, but she's nearly the same size as me.
I'll never forget not that long ago I was in town with Jess, and walking behind us was a group of teenage girls, effing and blinding at the top of their voices, I was getting very cross, and had given a disapproving look towards Jessica as though to say, " Oh, how awful, you won't EVER do that, will you?" Anyway, I'd had enough turned round and launched into the "Do you mind not using that language, I've got my little girl with me," lecture. Only to find that the girls behind me where maybe only a year or so older than "my little girl". I think it was then that it hit me, my baby was growing up.
Little children give you a tiny insight into the unconditional love of God, but as parents we need to image the work of God at creation.
